The conference program covered the entire lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure through four main thematic areas:
- Resources & Materials – innovative materials, recycling approaches and energy security
- Planning, Construction & Financing – circular architecture, urban development and financing instruments
- Use & Operation – smart buildings, energy-efficient retrofitting and AI-supported optimization
- Deconstruction, Recycling & Reuse – urban mining strategies as well as waste and water treatment solutions
Particular importance was given to the international B2B matchmaking activities, complemented by specialized workshops and technical excursions in and around Vienna. The format enabled direct exchanges between companies, research organizations and public stakeholders working on practical solutions in the fields of circular construction, renewable materials, energy systems and environmental technologies.
For the Steinbeis team, the event provided valuable opportunities not only to present the ReBORN Project, but also to identify comparable technological approaches, analyse current market developments and establish new international contacts for future cooperation activities.
ReBORN and International Cooperation Activities
A central objective of the Steinbeis participation at Build’n Green 2026 was the international positioning of the EUKI-funded ReBORN Project and the exchange with companies and institutions active in sustainable and circular construction.
Beyond presenting the project itself, Steinbeis representatives used the event to analyse current developments in circular construction, identify emerging market approaches and establish contacts with companies and institutions working on renewable and bio-based building materials.
The structured matchmaking format enabled direct exchanges with companies, consultants and research organizations working on renewable construction materials, hemp-based building solutions, circular production processes and sustainable insulation technologies.
Discussions included topics such as hempcrete applications, bio-based acoustic and fire protection materials, regional supply chains for renewable raw materials and practical approaches for the industrial implementation of circular construction materials in Southeast Europe and neighboring regions.
Several meetings also focused on market development, technology transfer and future cooperation opportunities relevant for the ongoing ReBORN Project.
Romanian Delegation at Build’n Green 2026
Roxana Boboruta participated in Build’n Green 2026 as part of the Romanian delegation invited by ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Romania. The delegation brought together companies, research organizations and public institutions active in sustainability, circular economy solutions and environmental innovation.
Participants included representatives from companies such as FEPRA Waste Management, Solar Eco Systems and World Trade Vision, alongside representatives from the Romanian Ministry of Environment as well as senior researchers from INCDO-INOE2000 and the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development.
The delegation reflected the broad spectrum of stakeholders currently involved in Romania’s transition towards sustainable construction, renewable materials and circular economy approaches, while creating valuable opportunities for international exchange and future cooperation activities.
Technical Visits and Further Insights
As part of the conference program, Steinbeis representatives also participated in technical excursions focused on biomass, circular bioenergy systems and sustainable infrastructure solutions in and around Vienna.
The visits and discussions provided additional practical insights into renewable energy systems, circular resource management and low-carbon infrastructure approaches relevant for future international cooperation activities and the EUKI-funded ReBORN Project.
Further details on technical visits, selected B2B discussions, innovative construction materials and international cooperation opportunities can be explored in the dedicated subpage linked here.
